Why NanoJapan?
NanoJapan to me is not only an opportunity to gain expertise in nanotechnology, but also a comprehensive educational program through which I hope to develop various qualities that would benefit me in the long run. Nanotechnology is a rapidly growing field that has the potential to improve people’s lives. Many Japanese researchers are leaders in the field, and an opportunity to work, interact, and learn from them as an undergraduate student is a great privilege. I hope to gain significant scientific knowledge and learn techniques that would enable me to conduct research when I come back to Rice.
NanoJapan is also a great opportunity for me to meet and become friends with people who are interested in the similar field of study. Having friends who may work in the same industry would be an invaluable asset to my professional career. Also, by travelling around Japan and conversing with many Japanese people, I hope to gain a deeper understanding of the Japanese culture and have many unforgettable experiences.
